Chu Highlights Scientific Solutions to the Energy Crisis on New Facebook Page
Facebook page will offer an inside look at efforts to transform the way we use and produce energy, as well as tips for reducing your home energy bill

DOE Secretary Steven Chu

Washington, DC – During the 40th anniversary week of the moon landing, Energy Secretary Steven Chu is taking one small step onto Facebook to highlight the potential of groundbreaking research to take giant leaps forward in solving the energy crisis.

On his Facebook page, Secretary Chu will explain some of the cutting edge research and technology that is laying the foundation for the next generation of clean energy jobs, and answer questions submitted by visitors of the page. He will also offer an inside look at the Obama Administration’s work to ensure America’s leadership in building a clean energy economy and confronting the global climate crisis. Finally, visitors to Secretary Chu’s Facebook page will find information and discussion groups about how to save energy in their homes and reduce utility bills.

“Solving the energy crisis and seizing the economic opportunity before us is an urgent national priority that affects every American, and every American can play a role,” said Secretary Chu. “I’m looking forward to a dialogue with people from all walks of life not only about the solutions that science may offer us tomorrow, but also about the solutions that already exist today which can save families money, cut energy use and help save the planet in the process.”

The page, which will be updated regularly, includes videos of Secretary Chu discussing the importance of solving the energy challenge and why he joined the Obama Administration. In conjunction with the Facebook page, Secretary Chu has also launched a YouTube channel and a Flickr site.
